Facelift for Brisbane shooting complex

Updated: Sep 21, 2020

Rain, hail or shine, members of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) Brisbane can now enjoy their favourite sport protected from the elements, thanks to new roof built using DeltaTrim™ insulated panels.

It wasn’t the first time Brisbane builder Tom Esprester, Managing Director of ESP Developments, used Delta panels but he said it was one of the more challenging projects his team has worked on.

“The design brief was to replace the old corrugated iron roof, double the size of the undercover shooting area (from 360m² to 790m²) and provide a bigger overhang to protect the shooters from the elements, without using support posts. And it was all done while the complex was still in daily use,” Tom explained.

“We worked closely with Delta Panels to stage the delivery of materials throughout the project, craning the 11.4m panels off the truck and then into place.

“I like Delta panels because the product is quick and reasonably inexpensive to install.

“Once it’s installed, it’s ready to use straight away. This job was no exception – we had it fully installed two weeks ahead of schedule and the client was delighted with the finished product.”

President of SSAA Brisbane, Rod Shannon, said the new roof was a huge improvement for the club and its members.

“All the feedback from our members has been extremely positive,” Rod said.

“The overall appearance and the larger overhang mean members and their equipment are protected regardless of the weather and we’ve been able to install better lighting under the roof.

“The new roof also reduces the amount of noise travelling to our neighbours. We’ve had a couple of hot days now and members have confirmed it’s much cooler under the new roof.”
